The Technology Innovation Center provides a community for entrepreneurs with the resources they need to build and grow a successful company.
Our mission is to create a center for encouraging entrepreneurship motivated by the desire to generate new employment opportunities, and to serve as the cornerstone of the Research Park’s effort to support area start-ups, businesses, and entrepreneurs in pursuit of innovation and the development of research that can be commercialized for the benefit of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, area universities and technical schools, as well as the Milwaukee area, the region, and the State of Wisconsin.

Leadership

Mark Johnson, Executive director
As Executive Director of the Technology Innovation Center at Milwaukee County Research Park, Mark oversees the management of the Technology Innovation Center which serves as the cornerstone of the Research Park’s effort to support area start-ups, businesses, and entrepreneurs in pursuit of innovation and the development of research to commercialization of products. Mark is a Certified Business Incubation Manager, GrowthWheel® Business Coach, Certified Professional Innovator, and Project Management Institute Certified Project Management Professional serving 65 start-up to growth stage companies in his current role and over 40 in his previous role as Executive Director at Whitewater University Technology Park’s Innovation Center. Over the years, he has served as the Chief Operating Officier for various startups and continues to mentor startups today. Mark also serves as the President for the Wisconsin Business Innovator’s Support Association.

Kay Van Hecke, Office/Facilities Manager
As the Office and Facilities Manager for the Technology Innovation Center, Kay oversees all aspects of the facility’s operations. She is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, maintaining the physical space, managing projects related to office expansions, relocations and renovations, and ensuring that the center is fully equipped to support the work of its tenants.
Kay is a natural problem solver and is always looking for ways to optimize the facility’s operations. She is highly organized, detail-oriented, and has a keen eye for identifying areas of improvement. She works closely with tenants to understand their needs and ensure that they have everything they need to succeed.
Kay’s passion for helping businesses grow and serving others makes her an invaluable member of the Technology Innovation Center team committed to delivering exceptional service to all.
